Place Kléber

Place Kléber is the largest square and cultural heart of Strasbourg, France, serving as a primary meeting point for locals and tourists within the UNESCO World Heritage historic center. Located at Place Kléber, 67000 Strasbourg, the square is free to visit and accessible via Tram lines A, B, C, D, and F at the Homme de Fer stop.

Named in 1840 in honor of General Jean-Baptiste Kléber, a native of Strasbourg and Napoleonic-era commander, the square features a central bronze monument believed to house a crypt with his remains. Originally known as Barfüsserplatz and later Place d’Armes, the square is surrounded by shops, galleries, and cafes. It is also famous for hosting the city's large Christmas tree and the renowned Strasbourg Christmas Market.

Visitors can spend approximately 15 minutes exploring the square itself, or up to 45 minutes if visiting the Aubette 1928 museum located within the former guardhouse. The square serves as a key tourist attraction in the city center, offering a vibrant atmosphere.
