Musée de l'Abbaye

The Musée de l'Abbaye is located in Annecy-le-Vieux, a commune adjacent to Annecy, and serves as a museum dedicated to the local history and industrial heritage of the region. The site is housed in the former "grande ferme de l'abbaye," a large farmhouse that was rehabilitated by the commune in 2005. The location holds significant historical value, as it was originally part of the domains belonging to the Abbey of Sainte-Catherine du Semnoz and the Jouly estate.

Antoine Paccard established a bell foundry in Quintal in 1796, which moved to Annecy-le-Vieux in 1854 to be near the future railway station. The foundry is famous for casting "La Savoyarde," the large bell for the Sacré-Cœur basilica in Paris, installed in 1891. During the school period, it is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Saturdays from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
