The Basilique Saint-Michel in Bordeaux is a Gothic minor basilica and UNESCO World Heritage site, listed in 1998. Construction spanned over 200 years, from the 14th to the 16th century. The site is renowned for its iconic 114-meter bell tower, the highest in southern France, which stands independent of the main church structure. Located at 16 Pl. Meynard, 33000 Bordeaux, the basilica features a crypt originally used as an ossuary and later for exhibitions.

Admission to the basilica is €5 for adults and free for children under 12. Opening hours vary: Tuesday through Friday from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm, and Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Mass is held every Sunday at 11:15.

Visitors can also climb the Flèche Saint-Michel (Saint-Michel Spire), which recently reopened after five years of renovation. Climbing 230 steps leads to a height of 47 meters, offering panoramic views of Bordeaux. The site features a 19th-century carillon with 22 bells that strike hourly and play melodies at 12:30 pm and 6:45 pm. The spire is open daily from April to October, between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Admission is €7 for adults, €5 for concessions, and free for children under 13 and City Pass holders. A combined ticket with Porte Cailhau is available for €11. Entry is included in the Bordeaux CityPass. This landmark offers a significant insight into Bordeaux’s Gothic architecture and history.
