Valley of the Dourdou

The Valley of the Dourdou in Conques offers a scenic and historic setting for travelers exploring the Aveyron region. Conques-en-Rouergue is a medieval village situated along this valley, renowned for its well-preserved architecture and spiritual heritage. The primary attraction is the St. Foy Abbey-church, a masterpiece of Romanesque art. Its tympanum features 124 figures depicting the Last Judgment, and the interior includes Romanesque capitals and stunning stained-glass windows by Pierre Soulages. Visitors can also explore the medieval village streets and the "Treasure of goldsmith art," which houses religious artifacts.

The Tourist Office of Conques is open daily, with hours from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm to 6:30 pm from April to September, and 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm from October to March. The Treasure museum follows the same schedule. The Abbey-church is generally open, though it may be closed for technical work on specific dates, such as the afternoon of May 5, 2026. Guided tours covering the history of the abbey and village require previous reservation via email or phone.
