Aiguille du Midi
3842m summit with glass skywalk and Alpine views
The Aiguille du Midi is Chamonix’s iconic tourist attraction, offering a cable car ride from the town center at 1,033 meters to the summit at 3,842 meters. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes and provides stunning views of the surrounding peaks. At the top, visitors can explore a 360° panorama of the French, Italian, and Swiss Alps. Key features include "Le Pas dans le Vide," a glass-bottomed box extending from the terrace, and "Le Tube," a steel gallery that offers a unique perspective of the drop. The site also houses the "Espace Vertical" mountaineering museum and the "3842m" restaurant.
During the summer months, visitors can take the extra-charge Panoramic Mont-Blanc gondola to Italy. A recommended visit duration is 2 to 3 hours. Warm clothing is essential due to the high altitude and cold temperatures. Age restrictions apply: children under 3 are not allowed, and those under 5 are not recommended. An immersive 4D cinema is available at the departure station for children aged 5 and over.
Operating hours vary but generally run from 6:10 am to 5:45 pm. Tickets can be purchased online, with new releases often appearing three days prior, or at the box office on the day of visit, subject to availability. Early arrival is recommended. Pricing for a round-trip ticket to the top station ranges from 60.20€ to 83.00€, while a ticket to the mid-station (Plan de l'Aiguille) costs 43.00€. A "Walks & Visits" MultiPass is available for adults starting at 95.60€ for 1–9 days. Animals and drones are prohibited on the site. Parking at the Grépon lot requires a reservation.
