Cathédrale Saint-Théodorit

The Cathédrale Saint-Théodorit in Uzès is a historic architectural gem located in the Gard region of France. Situated at 3 Place de la Cathédrale, 30700 Uzès, the building stands near the Boutique Hôtel Entraigues and Place aux Herbes. Its history is complex, with foundations dating back to the first centuries of Christianity, built upon the remains of a Roman temple dedicated to Augustus. It is named after Saint Theodorit, a 7th-century bishop.

The structure has undergone multiple destructions and rebuilds. The original structure was destroyed in the early 13th century and rebuilt, only to be destroyed again during the 16th-century Wars of Religion. It was reconstructed in the 17th century and later stripped of interior features during the French Revolution. Today, it serves as a Protestant church and is renowned for its iconic Romanesque tower, known as the Fenestrelle. The building was listed as a French Historical Monument in 1862.
