Clos Lucé

The Manor of Clos Lucé in Amboise is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major tourist attraction in the Loire Valley. It is renowned for hosting the final three years of Leonardo da Vinci’s life from 1516 to 1519. Originally a medieval fortress purchased by Charles VIII in 1490 and transformed into a Renaissance-style summer residence, the manor was later gifted by King François I to da Vinci. The site features reconstructions of over 40 of the inventor's inventions, offering visitors a tangible connection to his genius.

The site is open daily except on December 25 and January 1. Hours vary by season: in January, it is open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM; from February to June and September to October, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM; in July and August, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM; and from November to December, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The ticket office closes one hour before the site closes.

Admission is €20 for adults, €15 for children (7–18), students, and reduced rates, and €11 for persons with disabilities and accompanying persons. Children under 7 enter for free. A family package costs €60 for two adults and two children. Supporting documentation is required for reduced rates. A paid car park is located 300 meters from the main entrance, and two cycle parking areas are available. Free activity booklets, such as The Inventor’s Notebook for ages 7–12, are available at the ticket office.
