Musée Marc Chagall

The Musée National Marc Chagall in Nice is a purpose-built museum established according to the artist's wishes to house his major biblical works. Located at Avenue du Docteur Ménard, 06000 Nice, it holds the largest public collection of Chagall’s art, featuring over 400 works including paintings, gouaches, drawings, and pastels. The permanent collection is organized around Old Testament themes, with specific rooms dedicated to Genesis and Exodus (twelve large-format paintings) and the Song of Songs (five compositions). The museum also houses his "Biblical Message" cycle, reflecting his technical virtuosity and message of peace.

The museum is classified as a "Museum of France" and "Famille Plus," offering family-friendly creative tours for children aged 4 to 12. It is open daily except Tuesdays, New Year’s Day, May 1st, and Christmas Day. From May to October, hours are 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with ticket sales stopping 30 minutes before closing. From November to April, it is open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Note that midday closures (1:00 PM to 2:30 PM) apply from July 6 to September 30, 2026.

Access is convenient via plane, car (A8 motorway), train (Nice Ville station, 15-minute walk), bus (no. 5), or tram (no. 1). Free parking is available for coaches and cars, and the facility offers disabled access.
