Promenade des Anglais

The Promenade des Anglais is an iconic historic monument in Nice, France, stretching nearly 7 kilometers along the Baie des Anges. Its history dates back to 1824, when Reverend Lewis Way initiated its construction to provide employment for locals during a harsh winter. It was subsequently named in honor of the British community that helped develop it. The promenade was constructed in the 19th century following an economic downturn in 1821, through funds raised by Reverend Lewis Way and his compatriots to accommodate European aristocrats and support the local population.
