Musée Matisse

The Musée Matisse in Nice is a dedicated monographic museum located within the Cimiez Gardens, housed in a renovated Genoese villa where Henri Matisse lived from 1917 until his death in 1954. The institution holds a collection of nearly 600 works donated by the artist and his heirs, tracing his artistic evolution from the 1890s through his final cut-out gouache papers. The museum is open daily except Tuesdays, with hours from 10 am to 5 pm between November 1 and March 31, and 10 am to 6 pm from April 1 to October 31. It remains closed on January 1, Easter Sunday, May 1, and December 25. Individual admission costs €12, while group rates of €9 per person are available for groups of ten or more with advance booking. The museum is classified as a Museum of France and holds the "Famille Plus" label, offering family-friendly experiences. It is also included in the French Riviera Pass, which provides free access for holders.

Access is convenient via bus lines 5, 16, 18, 33, 40, and 70, or by bike-sharing services. Parking is available on avenue du Monastère and place du Monastère. The main entrance for both individuals and groups is on Level -2, accessible via the grand staircase outside the modern wing.
