Notre-Dame de Paris is a historic Gothic cathedral that has survived wars, executions, and a major fire in 2019, followed by meticulous restoration. It remains a popular tourist attraction open year-round. General access to the cathedral is free, but a reservation is mandatory and must be made exclusively through the official website or app; tickets are not sold by guides or agencies. While not mandatory, booking a time slot is recommended to avoid queues, with slots typically available for same-day or next-day visits.

Opening hours vary by day. From Monday to Wednesday and Friday, the cathedral is open from 7:50 AM to 7:00 PM. On Thursdays, it remains open until 10:00 PM. On weekends, hours are from 8:15 AM to 7:30 PM. Last entry is 30 minutes before closing. The Treasury has separate hours: weekdays and Saturdays from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM (until 8:30 PM on Thursdays), and Sundays from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with an admission fee required. The Crown of Thorns is displayed every Friday from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM and venerated on the first Friday of each month from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Access to the Towers requires separate reservations via the official Towers website.

Mass is free and open to all without reservation, with a dedicated queue opening 20 minutes prior. The cathedral hosts regular services, masses, and confessions, as well as cultural events like the "Musique Sacrée" summer concerts. Visitors can download the official app for planning and information, watch services live on KTO TV, and purchase souvenirs from the online shop. The best times to visit to avoid crowds are early morning around 8 AM or at sunrise/sunset, particularly on weekends.
