Panthéon

The Panthéon, located at Place du Panthéon in the 5th arrondissement, is a historic neoclassical landmark and cemetery. Built in the second half of the 18th century by King Louis XV for Saint Genevieve, the structure features a facade resembling the Pantheon in Rome, grand columns, frescoes, and a dome rising 83 meters high. It serves as the final resting place for distinguished French figures, including Voltaire, Victor Hugo, Émile Zola, and the Curies.

The monument is open daily, with hours varying by season. From April 1 to September 30, it is open from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM. From October 1 to March 31, hours are 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Last entry is 45 minutes before closing. The site is closed on January 1, May 1, and December 25, with early closure at 5:00 PM on December 24 and 31. The first Monday of each month opens at 12:00 PM. Admission fees are €16 from June 2 to September 30, 2025, and €13 from October 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026. Reduced rates apply on Wednesdays during the summer period. Free admission is available for EU nationals aged 16–25, disabled persons, and children under 16 with an adult.

Visitors are advised to allow 1–3 hours for a complete experience. The panoramic view from the dome is currently closed for renovation. Accessible via Metro Line 10, the Panthéon offers translation devices and is highly rated for its historical significance. Booking tickets online is recommended to skip queues during busy periods.
