Parc de la Tête d'Or

Parc de la Tête d’Or is Lyon’s largest and most popular urban park, inaugurated in 1857 and inspired by English landscape gardens. Covering approximately 105 to 117 hectares, the park serves as a major recreational hub in northern Lyon. Its name, meaning "Park of the Golden Head," originates from a local legend regarding a hidden golden head of Christ. The park features a 17-hectare artificial lake created from a branch of the Rhône, offering opportunities for boating.

Key attractions include a zoological park with free admission, featuring African savanna and rare species, and an Asian forest added in 2020.
