Unterlinden Museum

The Musée Unterlinden in Colmar is a major cultural institution housed in a former Dominican convent. Located at Place Unterlinden, 68000 Colmar, the museum is renowned for its significant collections, most notably the Isenheim Altarpiece by Matthias Grünewald, alongside extensive Medieval, Renaissance, and Modern Art exhibits. The site also features a library with 15,000 art history volumes, accessible to the public since 2017, and the Schongauer Café/Restaurant, situated in the old baths area and designed by Herzog & de Meuron.

Visitors should plan their visit carefully regarding opening hours. The museum is open Wednesday through Monday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with last entry at 5:30 PM. It is closed on Tuesdays and on specific public holidays: January 1, May 1, November 1, and December 25. On December 24 and 31, the museum operates on reduced hours from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Admission is €14 for full-price tickets. Reduced rates of €9 apply to students under 30 and youth aged 12–17. Visitors with disabilities, job seekers, and welfare recipients can enter for €6 with valid proof. Entry is free for children under 12 and specific regional school groups. Group rates of €12 are available for parties of 15 or more. Large bags and suitcases exceeding 40cm x 30cm x 20cm are not permitted inside. Payment is accepted via cash, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or bank transfer for groups. The museum shop is open daily except Tuesdays, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
