Château d'Angers

The Château d'Angers is a historic fortress in Angers, France, renowned for housing the Apocalypse Tapestry. Visitors access the site through the main gate on Promenade du Bout du Monde. The castle features extensive ramparts, gardens, a royal lodge, a chapel, and the Apocalypse gallery. General admission covers the entire tour.

Opening hours vary by season. From May 2 to September 4, the castle is open from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM. From September 5 to April 30, it is open from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM. It is closed on January 1, May 1, and December 25. Last entry is 45 minutes before closing. Note that hours may change during heatwaves, and the ramparts may close under high heat conditions.

Admission fees are €14 during the high season (May 2 – September 4) and €11 during the low season (September 5 – April 30). Free admission is available for visitors under 18, EU/EEA residents aged 18–25, people with disabilities (plus one partner), job seekers, Angers City Pass holders, and members of specific professional or cultural organizations. Free entry is also available on the first Sunday of November through March and during European Heritage Days.
