The Château de Semur-en-Auxois is a historic fortress located in Semur-en-Auxois (Côte-d'Or), France. The site has been fortified since at least the 10th century, with the current castle built in 1276 by Robert II, Duke of Burgundy, replacing an older structure. Situated on a rocky ridge meander of the Armançon river, the castle features a rectangular layout with four round corner towers. The north tower, known as "Le Donjon," serves as the keep, standing approximately 40 meters high with 5-meter thick walls, reflecting Philippian military architecture.

The castle’s history includes significant military events. Between 1354 and 1358, it was strengthened by Philip the Bold and Jean de Noyers, with hoards added to the towers in 1358. In 1478, it was occupied by French troops under Louis XI after remaining loyal to the Burgundian Dukes. During the French Wars of Religion, the town was loyal to the French King but occupied by the Catholic League until 1589, when it surrendered to royalist forces led by Guillaume de Saulx.

While specific opening hours or admission fees for the castle are not detailed in the current sources, the site offers visitors a glimpse into medieval military architecture and Burgundian history. Semur-en-Auxois is also home to the Museum of Semur-en-Auxois, located in the former convent of the Jacobines, which features fine arts, plaster casts, and scientific collections. The town is classified as one of the "Plus Beaux Villages de France" and offers a rich cultural experience centered on its medieval heritage. Visitors are encouraged to explore the castle ruins and the surrounding historic town to appreciate the region's architectural legacy.
