Van Gogh Foundation (Fondation Van Gogh Arles)

The Vincent van Gogh Foundation (Fondation Vincent van Gogh) in Arles is a cultural institution located at 35 ter, rue du Docteur-Fanton. It is situated near the site of La Maison Jaune (2, place Lamartine), where Van Gogh lived from 1888 to 1889. Originally established in 1983 by Yolande Clergue, the Foundation honors Van Gogh’s influence on contemporary art and provides a reference for his defining works created in Arles. It fosters dialogue between his legacy and modern art through rotating exhibitions, such as the Sigmar Polke exhibition and "SUSPECTS - Van Gogh, Tricksters & Co."

The Foundation is open daily from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, with last entry at 6:30 pm. Standard admission is €10, with a reduced rate of €8 for seniors, unemployed visitors, large families, students over 26, and others. Entry is free for children under 26, disabled visitors, students, and art teachers. Combo tickets are available for LUMA Arles (€17) and the Musée Réattu (€12). The Sud Contemporain Pass (€20) offers one-year access to four institutions, including the Foundation.

A notable interactive feature is a mailbox created by Domenico de Clario, inaugurated in February 2026, allowing visitors to send letters to Van Gogh. The Foundation also offers educational programs, including a one-hour guided "Discovery Tour" for students priced at €30. This site offers a profound insight into Van Gogh’s time in Arles, connecting historical context with contemporary artistic expression.
