Château de Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei

Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei is a picturesque village in Normandy, recognized as one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in France” since 1983 and holding the “Petites Cités de Caractère” label since 2014. Its history dates back to the 7th century, when the Italian hermit Céneri founded a monastery. The village name derives from Saint Céneri and the 11th-century Giroie family, whose castle ruins remain visible on the hillside.

Key heritage sites include a 12th-century Romanesque church with preserved wall paintings and a secluded chapel associated with Saint Céneri’s legends.
