The Mulhouse Zoological and Botanical Park, often referred to as the Jardin Botanique, is a historic 25-hectare site located at 111 avenue de la 1ère Division Blindée. Established in 1868 by local business leaders, it has evolved from a public entertainment venue into a scientifically recognized institution focused on conservation and education. Recognized with the "Jardin remarquable" label, it is the leading tourist site in the Haut-Rhin department.

Visitors can explore a diverse collection of over 3,000 plant species, including more than 200 endangered varieties managed by the Alsace Botanical Conservatory. The park is also home to approximately 1,200 animals representing nearly 170 species, with 90 of these classified as threatened with extinction. The layout is designed to provide a naturalistic environment, featuring highlights such as the Great North Area, which houses polar bears, polar foxes, and musk oxen, as well as the Hatching House. The park serves as a haven of peace near downtown Mulhouse, requiring a full day to fully explore.

The institution plays a pioneer role in conservation, participating in nearly 100 international breeding and conservation programs for species like lemurs, gibbons, and turtles. It actively raises visitor awareness about biodiversity protection and global warming. Opening hours vary by season, typically ranging from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM in summer and 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in winter, with checkout closing 30 minutes before closing time. Online ticket purchase is recommended for skip-the-line access. This site offers a comprehensive experience combining botanical beauty with significant wildlife conservation efforts.
